Three ways to read your own finances

Each programme is led in small sessions, works at your pace, and covers only what is relevant to your situation.

Reading a Small Business Account

Reading a Small Business Account

A three-session programme for owners of a small family-run business who would like to read their own bookkeeping records with more confidence — balance sheet, profit and loss, and monthly cash summary.

  • Three focused sessions
  • Plain-English walkthrough of each line
  • Monthly review scheduling guidance
  • Works with notebooks, spreadsheets, or software
Household Tax Reading Programme

Household Tax Reading Programme

  • Four structured sessions
  • Covers Malaysian personal tax form structure
  • Allowable reliefs and rebates explained
  • Written summary of relevant reliefs included
Small Family Business Finance Engagement

Small Family Business Finance Engagement

  • Three months of guided review
  • Personal and business cash flow separation
  • Owner draws and tax scheduling
  • Written summary for family reference
What makes the difference

You read. We explain.

The aim is that you leave each session reading your own records more clearly — not dependent on someone else to interpret them for you.

Small groups, your pace

Sessions are kept small so there is room to work at a comfortable pace and revisit anything that needs more attention.

Grounded in Malaysia

All programmes use Malaysian tax forms, local accounting conventions, and examples drawn from the kinds of businesses common in Selangor and the Klang Valley.

Written summaries included

Where appropriate, programmes conclude with a short written summary — something you can refer back to when reviewing your accounts on your own.

Education, not a service

We do not prepare accounts, file returns, or manage funds on your behalf. Our role is to help you understand what you are looking at — so the decisions remain yours.

Plain language throughout

Jargon is introduced only when necessary, and always explained. The aim is that financial terms become familiar tools rather than obstacles.

Would one of these programmes suit you?

There is no obligation in writing to us. If you are not sure which programme is relevant, we are glad to have a brief conversation before you decide anything.

Before you write to us
What exactly do these programmes cover?
Each programme focuses on helping you read and understand your own financial documents — whether that is a set of bookkeeping records, a Malaysian personal income tax form, or the combined household and business finances of a small family enterprise. No bookkeeping, tax filing, or financial management is provided.
Do I need a background in accounting?
No. The programmes are designed for people who are not accountants — owners managing their own records, salaried professionals preparing their own returns, and family business members who want to understand what the numbers mean. We start from the documents themselves and work outward.
Where are sessions held?
Sessions take place at our reading room at Subang Heritage Row, Subang Jaya. We work in a quiet, unhurried setting where participants can bring their own documents and refer to them directly.
How long does each session run?
Individual sessions run approximately 90 minutes. This allows time to work through material carefully without rushing, and to leave room for questions as they arise during the session.
Are the prices per person or per family?
Programmes One and Two are priced per participant. Programme Three — the Small Family Business Finance Engagement — is priced per family unit, since the work naturally involves reviewing both household and business finances together.
Will my financial information remain private?
Sessions are held in small groups, but participants are never required to share specific figures with one another. If you prefer individual sessions, please mention this when you write to us and we will let you know whether that can be arranged.
When do new cohorts begin?
We run cohorts across the year in small numbers. When you write to us, we will let you know the next available dates. Expressing interest early is worthwhile, as places are limited.
